Labyrinth Drinking Game! – Movie Buzz

Today on Movie Buzz, we’re watching LABYRINTH. It’s a movie that’s begging to get drunk to: there’s sing-alongs, talking felt creatures, and David Bowie’s crotch! Subscribe for more:

Check out how to make this week’s cocktail over on Tasted:

Labyrinth is a magical movie, and it deserves an equally magical drink. Master mixologist Nikki Sunseri has whipped up a potion that actually glows under a backlight.

We’re joined today by Curt Neill. We’ve had him on before, so the least you can do is follow him on twitter: twitter.com/curtneill

Labyrinth: Fifteen-year-old Sarah accidentally wishes her baby half-brother, Toby, away to the Goblin King Jareth who will keep Toby if Sarah does not complete his Labyrinth in thirteen hours.

What movie should we drink to next?

Movie Buzz aka Movie Drinking Games: We play drinking games while watching your favorite movies….’nuff said!

  • Jennifer connelly was 14 when labyrinth was filmed.
Fun trivia, Bowie wouldn't kiss Connelly for a scene NC of her age.

  • This movie is how I discovered David Bowie. 2011. I was 12, easily obsessed. I wanted to be Sarah. I played with dolls, made my dolls into Sarah and Jareth. (Even attempting to take shots for a stop-motion animation of the Ball scene, right up to where she, played by one of my dolls, fell into the pile of junk… a proud moment in my young life. Gotta find those pictures, honestly… anyway!) It's still one of my favorite movies. I'd rate it 4/5 clocks.

  • Online comedy commentary can't stop talking about how the heroine is legally a minor, and thus invalid as a sex object. I was a prepubescent boy in fourth grade when I saw Labyrinth, and the protagonist was a high-school girl. When I first saw the movie, she wasn't a child to me; she was a goddess. Those corny, stilted lines she delivered sounded like D&D had a jam session with Shakespeare. Even now, decades later, I have an imprint of Jennifer Connelly being a strong, beautiful, courageous, admirable figure, and seeing her in any and all of her roles reawakens those feelings. Probably not great for her versatility as an actress, and maybe an impediment to her career, but I think she'll have a place in the pantheon until my whole generation dies.

  • I watched this movie for the first time when I was roughly 8 and it really stayed with me. Watched it so many times later on that I caved and bought the DVD
I can see the flaws and clunky acting but I fucking love it

  • I didn't see this movie until I was around 12, and my first reaction to it was basically "What the fuck…?" (with a side of very confused attraction toward Jareth). I watched it again several years later and was like, "Actually, I love everything about this." And I have absolutely loved it ever since. I am never disappointed when I watch this movie!

  • Lmao take this child away from me! Hes not yours bitch! So true, but I think children should of course be allowed to watch this film, it's a coming of age film, plus I think adults tend to monopolise things to a point where children are missing out on experiences where they can learn about and find out what they like and hate. Some parents don't think children should wAtch Doctor Who, some kids gate Doctor Who or are scared of it, it's the same with Laberynth how on Earth are they going to find out if they don't get the oppertunity to watch it. Plus your making it out like it's an 18 when it is a children's film and book.

  • Not sure whether you should be impressed or piteous, but I could probably do the math for the drinks based solely on memory and the criteria provided. I used to reenact the entire movie with an equally obsessed coworker. I hope you feel a little better about yourself. 😉

  • How do i become a studio contestant on this game…?!?
    I MUST!!
    How about "Lucy" w/Scarlett Johansson?
1 drink everytime they make a visual analogy.
2 drinks everytime her brain capacity increases.
3 drinks everytime she ingests more of the blue drug,
and whenever she speaks to Morgan Freeman you have to finish your drink.
    eh?eh?

  • I was a child when this came out and I thought it was the best movie ever made I must of watched it like 5000 times, the movie took my mind away into a fairy land of emotions it was the best place to dream about, I also loved david bowie and always thought your dumb sarah for not marrying him only because it would have been fun to be a queen and play with your new friends every day for the rest of eternity. You guys say is it appropriate for children these days, I say fuck your PC thinking and fuck yeah it's awesome for children now, you guys are sexualising this movie way too much it doesn't even have any references towards sex in this movie fucken hell it's cleaner then the cartoon movies they make for kids these days. So my answer for your question … "Is this appropriate for kids?" my answer is yes it is.

  • I was born in 85 this came out in 86, I grew up watching this movie. Everyday, multiple times a day. It is still, to this day, one of my all time favorite movies. I could quote all the lines, and I know all the lyrics to the songs. I gotta try the drinking game when I don't have to work the next day, cause I'm gonna be so hungover it won't be funny. My parents still shudder ever time I talk about it. I think they were the scarred ones, not me.
